The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Stephen Jacobs as the new superintendent at Columbus Correctional Institution in Whiteville.
Jacobs is a 25-year correctional veteran who was promoted from the director of the Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center in Lumberton. He began his career in 1993 as a correctional officer at the former Cabarrus Correctional Center. Jacobs has been a of case analyst, senior case analyst, diagnostic director, and assistant superintendent of programs at several correctional facilities.
“I am pleased with naming Mr. Jacobs for this important position,” said Director of Prisons Kenneth Lassiter. “His background and experience will provide important leadership to Columbus.”
Jacobs earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his master’s in criminal justice from East Carolina University.
Columbus CI currently houses approximately 670 male inmates in medium custody.
