The N.C. Office of Recovery and Resiliency (NCORR) has committed funding to more than 1,000 new affordable housing units in regions of North Carolina hard-hit by Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence.

Offender Angelo Smith (#1507327) died Friday at Pamlico Correctional Institution after an apparent suicide. He was found unresponsive at 9:11 p.m.
RALEIGH—To make prisons safer and more secure, the North Carolina prison system is changing the way offenders receive mail.
Officials with the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice have promoted Bill Woolard to Assistant Division Administrator in Judicial Division 1, effective Aug. 2, 2021.In his new position, Woolard will oversee Community Corrections operations in the 1st Judicial Division, which covers 32 counties in the eastern and coastal portions of the state.
The State Highway Patrol is extremely proud to announce the promotion of Maj. Daryl B. Conley to the rank of lieutenant colonel effective Aug. 9.  Lt. Col. Conley will be assuming this role soon to be vacated by Lt. Col. Donna Carter who has announced her retirement effective Sept. 1. 
Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that Casandra Skinner Hoekstra will serve as Interim Secretary for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS).

“Casandra is a talented leader who has dedicated her career to keeping the people of North Carolina safe,” Governor Cooper said. “Her legal background and experience within the Department of Public Safety have prepared her to serve in this role, and I’m grateful she agreed to step up.”
The Department of Public Safety will host hiring events on Friday, July 30, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the three state prisons in Raleigh: Central Prison, N.C. Correctional Institution for Women and Wake Correctional Center.
