Area residents can get tips and advice on how to make their homes more resistant to flood damage at community mitigation resiliency workshops.

If you are eligible for an extension, you may use continued temporary housing assistance to pay for a place to live, such as a house, apartment, hotel or recreational vehicle. The assistance covers rent, security deposit and essential utilities, like electricity and water.

The deadline for registering with FEMA has passed, but that does not mean FEMA is leaving. The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private nonprofit organizations located in North Carolina as a result of extensive flooding and wind caused by Hurricane Florence that occurred from Sept. 14 through Nov. 21, 2018. 
The ReBuild North Carolina Program has announced additional dates of outreach events, occurring over the coming months, to assist homeowners who sustained damage from Hurricane Matthew complete their program application for recovery aid.
North Carolinians who suffered damage from Hurricane Florence have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19 to register for federal disaster assistance. Governor Cooper today urged storm survivors who haven’t yet registered for recovery help to apply today with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 
The New Hanover County disaster recovery center in Wilmington will close permanently at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20. However, help is just a phone call or a mouse click away.

North Carolina survivors of Hurricane Florence have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 to register for assistance from FEMA or apply for a low-interest loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Seven additional counties are now eligible to participate in the temporary employment program that puts North Carolinians to work on recovery efforts in areas affected by Hurricane Florence, N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland announced today. To date, 51 counties have been declared eligible for the program. 

The U.S. Department of Labor awarded an $18.5 million Disaster Dislocated Worker Grant to help the state with Hurricane Florence response in late September. The North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions requested the grant.
