The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 36 new troopers today at a graduation ceremony held for the 158th Basic Highway Patrol School. The ceremony celebrates 14 weeks of extensive training to prepare the graduates for a worthwhile career in law enforcement.
As part of Hurricane Preparedness Week, Governor Roy Cooper is urging North Carolinians to learn about and prepare for the dangers of severe tropical weather in preparation for the upcoming hurricane season. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.

The State Highway Patrol unveiled the newest addition to its aviation fleet today at a ceremony in Raleigh. The Bell 429 helicopter will further expand the Patrol’s mission of saving lives across our state utilizing aviation assets. The event was held before distinguished guests and media invitees at the SHP’s Driving & Training Facility showcasing what is now the largest helicopter of the Patrol’s Aviation fleet.
