Ten new and five recently promoted officers with the State Capitol Police were sworn in on Wednesday in a formal ceremony at the Justice Building in Raleigh.Officers Edward Farmer, Brian Alston, Kenneth Blackwell, Jr, Michael Davis, Jr., John Donnelly, Gene Lambert, Michael Mullins, Shawn Smith, Casey Miller and Deputy Chief Terry Green were all welcomed to the agency by Chief R.E. “Chip” Hawley, who provided opening remarks.

Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks announced two appointments to key roles in Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice. Tim Moose will serve as Chief Deputy Secretary of the division effective June 1. Following a nationwide search, Todd Ishee (pronounced ISH-ee) has been named Commissioner of Prisons effective June 24. “I am extremely grateful to both of these gentlemen for taking on these important leadership roles,” Secretary Hooks said. “The combination of their vast experience and expertise in Corrections is vitally important to our public safety mission.”

The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 34 new troopers at a graduation ceremony for the 147th Basic Highway Patrol School. The ceremony ended 12 weeks of demanding training preparing them for a fulfilling career of service to the state of North Carolina.

State correctional and local law enforcement officers are seeking NC Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) minimum custody offender Gayle Newcombe (#0685978), who was reported missing from her work assignment in Raleigh/ Wake County this evening. Newcombe was last seen on Avent Ferry Road at about 5:45 p.m.
