Siarra Scott to Serve as Deputy Director of N.C. Office of Violence Prevention

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety on Monday welcomed public health practitioner Siarra Scott as deputy director of the Office of Violence Prevention. Scott is the second hire in an office established by Governor Roy Cooper in 2023 to help the state reduce violence and firearm misuse.

Governor Cooper Signs Executive Order Establishing State Office of Violence Prevention

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced the creation of a statewide Office of Violence Prevention that will be located in the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. By coordinating efforts across state agencies and partnering with local leaders, the new office will focus on reducing violence and firearm misuse in North Carolina.
