The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private nonprofit organizations located in North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Florence.
As the Dec. 13 deadline to register for assistance approaches, disaster recovery centers in six counties will close their doors soon. The centers are currently open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. All are closed Sunday. 

The New Hanover County recovery center located at the Old Independence Mall, 3500 Oleander Drive in Wilmington will remain open until further notice.

The following recovery centers will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12:
North Carolinians impacted by Hurricane Florence have one week from Thursday left to register for assistance programs with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

With federal flood insurance payments to North Carolinians for Hurricane Florence totaling over a half-billion dollars, officials are urging those who don’t have coverage to purchase it.


While FEMA has approved more than $118 million in grants to families and the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $328 million in low-interest disaster loans for homeowners and businesses, these numbers are exceeded by the roughly $529 million paid out to North Carolinians by the National Flood Insurance Program.
Disaster recovery centers in Wallace in Duplin County and Havelock in Craven County will soon close permanently. However, help is just a phone call or a mouse click away.

The Craven County center that is closing is located at:
State/FEMA disaster recovery centers will change their hours of operation beginning Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. The centers will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays. All centers are closed on Sundays.
The Columbus County disaster recovery center in Whiteville has moved. It will remain at the new location until it closes permanently at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5.
