Governor Pat McCrory has notified the state’s seven Urban Search and Rescue Teams and seven hazardous materials Regional Response Teams to be on standby in preparation for severe weather that is predicted to roll across the state on Wednesday. Meteorologists today warned that portions of North Carolina will see severe thunderstorms Wednesday. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for damaging wind gusts of 70+ miles per hour, up to 1-2” hail and the possibility of one or more tornadoes across much of the central and eastern parts of the state.

Governor Pat McCrory reports that the North Carolina State Emergency Response Team is closely monitoring the weather and preparing for the approaching winter storm and recommended that residents do the same.
Ahead of a winter storm that will enter North Carolina Wednesday, Governor Pat McCrory has ordered state agencies to begin preparations for possible treacherous travel conditions.This afternoon, Department of Transportation crews began brining operations on interstates and major highways and their ramps, as well as bridges. Crews will resume the brining process after morning rush hour on Wednesday.
Governor Pat McCrory is urging North Carolinians to prepare for winter weather and monitor local forecasts as the state’s first significant winter storm moves in later today.  McCrory will activate the State Emergency Response Team today and has declared a State of Emergency to prepare for expected snow and ice accumulations over the next 36 to 48 hours.

The governor urged residents and businesses to be safe and monitor local forecasts as the season’s first significant winter storm continues impacting North Carolina. 
In a briefing at Emergency Operations Center Saturday morning, Governor Pat McCrory urged citizens to stay vigilant during the first significant winter storm of the season. The governor asked residents and businesses to remain mindful of hazardous travel conditions, stay home whenever possible, and monitor their local forecasts as a significant winter storm continues to impact North Carolina. 
As temperatures remained low with no prospect for thawing until Sunday, Governor Pat McCrory said that safety was still the top concern for him and the state emergency operations team. With icy roadways and little chance of any thawing today, he urged the public to remain patient and not venture out onto the roads too soon.
While roads conditions are improving and power is being restored across much of North Carolina, Governor Pat McCrory urged residents to remain cautious as they venture out.
Governor McCrory on Friday lifted the State of Emergency that was declared in preparation for the winter storm. While the storm clouds left North Carolina last weekend, impacts from the season’s first snow and ice storm lingered into the week prompting state officials to leave the emergency order in place to facilitate recovery efforts.
