A young man approaches a car dealership after carefully weighing his monthly expenses. He’s got a good job and decent credit, and has budgeted for all the necessities – housing, utilities, groceries and health insurance. He’s also signed up for a premium phone plan, set aside money for a nice vacation and picked up a few streaming service subscriptions along the way.

Former NCDPS intern Kaylee Market followed her internship with a full-time position in the department.

The Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention reports that a juvenile from Cabarrus Juvenile Detention Center has escaped from custody while at a medical appointment.  

Governor Josh Stein joined Deputy Secretary William Lassiter, Elizabeth City Police Chief Eddie Graham Jr, and gun safety proponents to highlight NC S.A.F.E.’s (Secure All Firearms Effectively) Week of Action and call for safe firearm storage.

Reentry 2030 aims to help communities create a network of care to address barriers to employment, education, housing and more that the formerly incarcerated face upon reentry. JJDP is participating in both initiatives by hosting a series of reentry simulations throughout the state.
