Governor Roy Cooper today welcomed dozens of members of swift water rescue teams from across North Carolina to the Executive Mansion and thanked them for their service during Hurricane Matthew.

State and local law enforcement officials have apprehended a juvenile who escaped from the Cabarrus Juvenile Detention Center this morning.

Members of North Carolina Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team, known as NC HART, airlifted an injured hiker tonight from the area near Hunt Fish Falls in Avery County. The 70-year-old man suffered an injured hip and was unable to hike out.
