Gov. Pat McCrory took part in a promotion ceremony for 45 employees of the State Highway Patrol held Nov. 30 at the Summit Church on Blue Ridge Road.

Generous local corporate sponsors are stepping up to support the new public safety cadet program which is set to begin classes in Bertie County Schools in January.

The Highway Patrol announced a preliminary number of 14 motorists who died on North Carolina highways during the Thanksgiving holiday period. The holiday period officially began at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25 and ended at midnight, Sunday, Nov. 29.

The North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission awarded three State Capitol Police officers with the Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, one of the highest honors awarded by the commission.

Governor Pat McCrory has declared November 29 through December 5 as Winter Weather Preparedness Week and is urging North Carolinians to update their emergency supplies kits and review emergency plans.

The North Carolina National Guard mobilized the headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 105th Military Police Battalion (HHC 105th MP BN) at Trinity Baptist Church, on Nov. 28 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol along with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program will be joining forces with local law enforcement agencies from across the state by participating in the N.C. Interstate Challenge Campaign.

Leaders in the Juvenile Justice Section of the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice distributed awards earlier this month in recognition of individual staff members or groups of staff members who excel in their duties.

North Carolina Emergency Management employees Corey Johnson and Callion Maddox graduated Oct. 5 from the state’s Certified Public Manager Program completing a 16-month program designed to enhance leadership skills that increase effectiveness and efficiency of state and local agencies.
