As the July Fourth Holiday approaches, the State Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to focus on safe driving while traveling to their intended destinations.  As traffic is expected to increase throughout the week, troopers will be out in full force monitoring driver behavior.

On Monday, July 1st, at approximately 4:23 p.m. the State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a stolen tow truck on Black Creek Rd. in Johnston County after receiving a call for assistance by local authorities.

Ten new and five recently promoted officers with the State Capitol Police were sworn in on Wednesday in a formal ceremony at the Justice Building in Raleigh.

With an estimated 37.6 million motorists taking to the roadways this Memorial Day weekend, the State Highway Patrol is encouraging drivers to plan ahead before traveling.   

The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 34 new troopers at a graduation ceremony for the 147th Basic Highway Patrol School.  The ceremony ended 12 weeks of demanding training preparing them for a fulfilling career of service to the state of North Carolina.
 

During remarks at the Pitt County Reentry Job and Resource Fair, Governor Roy Cooper announced April 22-26, 2018 is Reentry Week in North Carolina.

A North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) minimum custody offender who left her work assignment on April 4, 2019, is back in custody after being captured this morning. 

State correctional and local law enforcement officers are seeking NC Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) minimum custody offender Gayle Newcombe (#0685978), who was reported missing from her work assignment in Raleigh/ Wake County this evening.  Newcombe was last seen on Avent Ferry Road at about 5:45 p.m.  

The State Highway Patrol honored 55 sworn and 11 civilian members today during a promotional ceremony held at Colonial Baptist Church in Cary.

8:57 a.m. - At approximately 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, a state trooper stopped a white GMC pickup truck for a speeding violation on US 701 near Sellers Town Rd in Columbus County.

At approximately 8:40 a.m. today at Scotland Correctional Institution, inmate Cadarius Thomas (#0821718) was involved in an assault on one correctional employee. Additional staff were called in to assist.
