El Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Carolina del Norte ha elegido a Gerard Tate para dirigir la Oficina de Prevención de Violencia del estado. Tate será el primer director de una oficina establecida por el gobernador Roy Cooper en marzo para ayudar al estado a reducir la violencia y el uso indebido de armas de fuego.

The N.C. Department of Public Safety has tapped Gerard Tate to lead the state’s Office of Violence Prevention. Tate will serve as the first director of an office established by Governor Roy Cooper in March to help the state reduce violence and firearm misuse.

On Sunday, June 11, at approximately 12:54 a.m., the State Highway Patrol responded to call for officer assistance from Kenly Police Department in Johnston County.  Police were initially called to respond to shots fired in the area of 504 South Wilson St.

This call to action promotes firearm safety in response to mounting numbers of deaths of youth from firearm injury, along with a surge in firearm thefts across North Carolina.
