Final Judgment Ordered in Roxboro Nuisance Case

After years of violence, drug sales, and death investigations, citizens will soon see much-needed changes at a Roxboro motel.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Person County Superior Court Judge Cindy Sturgis signed a consent judgment for a Chapter 19 Nuisance Abatement action against Padmavati 2021 Inc., Harmanbhai and Shakuntlaben Patel, the property owners of Timberland Motel, located at 720 North Madison Boulevard, Roxboro, North Carolina. 

Clayton Store Clerk Charged After Underage Driver Crashes

A store clerk has been criminally charged following a single-vehicle collision that left the driver seriously injured.On Tuesday, Oct. 25, North Carolina State Highway Patrol notified ALE of a collision on Highway 39 in Johnston County.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gracen Simmons, 20, of Middlesex who suffered serious injuries in the single vehicle crash. Malt beverages were found inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and were believed to be a contributing factor.

Operation Concludes Undercover ALE Investigation

Last night concluded a ten-month long investigation with state and local law enforcement arresting 11 individuals on over 450 drug, alcohol, gambling, and weapons charges.

The multi-agency operation addressed drugs, the illegal sales of alcohol and gambling from ABC-licensed businesses in the Raleigh area.

Roxies Sports Bar ABC Permits Rejected After History of Violence

Following an ALE investigation, a Warrenton bar’s ABC permits have been rejected after shootings, assaults, fights, property damage, disorderly conduct, and numerous calls for service.

Since obtaining temporary ABC permits in 2020, Roxies Sports Bar and Lounge, located at 109 South Hall Street, has been a drain on emergency personnel.

Store Clerk, Teens Charged After ALE Investigation

Following a crash involving several teens in August, a convenience store clerk and four teens have been criminally charged.  

On the evening of Saturday, August 20, North Carolina State Highway Patrol (SHP) responded to a single-vehicle crash involving three teenagers in Caswell County. The 18-year-old driver left the roadway and struck a tree. SHP contacted ALE after open containers of alcohol were located inside the vehicle the night of the crash.

Statewide ALE Operation Yields Arrests, Charges

Throughout the agency’s eight districts, special agents executed four search warrants, seized six firearms, 78 fraudulent identifications, U.S. currency and various types of illegal controlled substances. Of the 189 arrests and 449 charges, 20 were felony charges, 261 were alcohol-related charges, and 80 were drug-related charges.

After years of disturbances and a long history of drug violations, a recent murder and numerous calls to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, this community should soon see long awaited changes.

On Thursday, August 11, Superior Court Judge Tim Gould signed a consent judgment for a Chapter 19 Nuisance Abatement action against the properties located on Wildwood Road, Salisbury.
