Recovery Assistance (as of 9/13/2019)

  • 139,813 registered for disaster assistance - since 2/24/19.
  • 42,287 visitors to one of the Disaster Recovery Centers (The last DRCs closed Dec. 20, 2018)
  • The last two shelters closed Nov. 9. (peak population 21,272 on September 15)
  • To date, 362 households are licensed-in to temporary housing units; 293 families have successfully moved on to more permanent housing by getting home repairs done or finding a new place to live.
  • As of September 12, the U.S Small Business Administration disaster loans have been approved for more than $405.4 million for 10,051 applicants:
    • $337.1 million in state and federal grants have gone to 9,069 homeowners and renters
    • $68.2 million in loans approved for 982 business owners. 
  • The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) as of July 5:
    • Hurricane Florence
      • Estimated claims paid: $615 million
      • NFIP claims filed: 15,253

  • Since the storm made landfall, NCDOT has relied on 2,579 employees and 208 contractor crews to clean up fallen debris and inspect and repair any damage to roads, shoulders, and bridges. The department has used 1,389 chain saws, 1,520 trucks, 4,007 barricades, and more than 5,800 signs, among other equipment.
