On Monday, February 19th the residents and business leaders in Unincorporated Burke County, the City of Morganton, and the Town of Drexel will be able to review and discuss the latest update to their flood hazard and flood risk data.

The N.C. Task Force for Racial Equity in Criminal Justice last week released its 2023 Year-End Report that summarizes the work of the task force over the last year, as well as accomplishments and resolutions resulting from the original 125 recommendations made in December 2020.

The State Emergency Response Commission will meet Friday, January 19, 2024. Some members of the commission will attend in person at the State Emergency Operations Center and others will participate via video conference.

North Carolina State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC) to meet Tuesday
WHAT:  A meeting of the State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC), a subcommittee of the State Emergency Response Committee. This will be a hybrid meeting both in person and virtual.

Governor Roy Cooper and Emergency Management Officials are urging North Carolinians to be safe and cautious as severe weather enters the state.

North Carolina Emergency Management wants the public to be aware of Duke Energy’s plans to test the sirens at four nuclear plants that have areas within North Carolina that may hear the tests.

Governor Roy Cooper signed an Executive Order today declaring a State of Emergency ahead of severe weather expected across the state. The Order waives truck weight, size and hours of service restrictions so that vehicles carrying essential supplies such as food, medicine or fuel or transporting livestock and crops can get their jobs done quickly.

Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) will once again be monitoring Santa’s progress as he approaches North Carolina. The Governor has instructed NCEM to prepare the state for Santa’s arrival so that he can safely complete his mission of delivering presents to children across North Carolina.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency for Duplin and Sampson counties in response to the effects of heavy rain and flooding on the agricultural sector in those counties.

The N.C. Office of Recovery and Resiliency has awarded $17.7 million from the Infrastructure Recovery Program to local governments to repair and restore critical infrastructure in communities across the state.
