Governor Cooper Signs State Disaster Declaration for the Town of Landis Affected by EF-1 Tornado

On Monday, October 2, 2023, Governor Roy Cooper signed a state disaster declaration for the Town of Landis in Rowan County that suffered damages from an EF-1 tornado on August 7. The declaration makes additional assistance available to the town.

Sanders named Director at Richmond-Jenkins Juvenile Detention Center

Possia Sanders has been named facility director at Richmond-Jenkins Juvenile Detention Center in Hoffman. Sanders began his new role on Sept. 25, and will serve as a key leader in the opening of the newly renovated Richmond Juvenile Detention Center in Rockingham upon its anticipated completion in 2025.
