Victim Compensation Services

Crime Victim Compensation Services has two programs:

Victim Compensation

Victim Compensation Services (en Español) may reimburse people who suffer medical expenses and lost wages as a result of being an innocent victim of a crime committed in North Carolina.

Victims of rape, assault, child sexual abuse, domestic violence and drunk driving, as well as the families of homicide victims are eligible to apply for financial help.

Rape Victim Assistance

Rape Victim Assistance provides free forensic medical examinations for victims of rape or sex offenses.

Additional Resources:

The Department of Adult Corrections administers two Victim Support Services programs.

  • Victim Support Services provides crime victims with information about offenders, policies, resources and programs, and helps address victims’ concerns.
  • The North Carolina Statewide Automated Victims Assistance Notification, or NC SAVAN, is a criminal justice information-sharing system that supports automated victim notification for incarcerated offenders in county jails.
